Do you think Don Bradman would have dominated cricket if he was still around?
or has the standard of bowling improved with bowlers inventing variations and other smart techniques
There are many reasons that force me to reconsider Don Bradman’s greatness had he been a modern player.
1) At his era, there was no no such thing as reverse swing
2) At his era, the matches were so widely spaced that the concept of playing and battling with an injury might not have existed
3) At his era, videos were not used to determine a batsman’s weakness and thus, exposing them
4) Fielding was not as good back in his time than it is now
5) Cricket fans were less in number, hence low expectations, hence lower pressure
6) There was no other quality team other than England
7) At that time, there was no concept of maintaining a good run-rate in tests
Watching a talented bowler like Ajhanta Mendis being worked on (through his videos) by the Pakistani team and his un-effectiveness against Pakistan in the recently concluded test series proves that technology has done a lot to help a team work out their rivals and deal them with ease.
Same is the case with Hughes against the English bowlers in the ongoing Ashes
