How to make my polished bowling ball hook?
I just bought an Awesome Finish by Morich and I was told to do some sanding on it to make it curve better. But I’m not sure what they are talking about… I’ve had bowling balls that had no problem curving on medium/heavy oiled lanes.. If this is correct to sand this ball, what should I use? and how do you sand a bowling ball?
Sanding or polishing a ball doesn’t really change how much a ball hooks, it affects WHEN the ball hooks. A polished ball will get through the first 35-40 feet of the lane without begining its hook due to the shined surface. The ball will conserve its energy and “snap” harder on the backend of the lane. A sanded ball, however, will begin its hook much earlier. If you would like to fool around with wither option, take your ball to your pro shop. The operator will throw the ball on the spinner and wet sand the ball using different grit sand paper. Again, sanding will change when the ball hooks, not how much it hooks. Try sanded and polished to see which one fits your game better.
