What is wrong with my navigation?

In Microsoft’s Flight Simulator X, I was flying from Louisville International (KSDF) to Nashville International (KBNA). I was flying IFR, VOR to VOR, in a Boeing 747. The flight plan I made had me fly to the Bowling Green (KBWG) VOR on a 210 inbound course and then to the Nashville VOR which is irrelevant.
However, when I am flying to the KBWG VOR, I set that in as the primary NAV frequency, and set the course as 210. Upon reaching the interception of the 210 inbound course, ATC tells me to turn to 210 degrees however the digital HSI says that I need to fly longer before I turn to 210. Basically it says that if I turn at that time, I would be flying a 201 course instead of 210.
When I look at the map, I am flying the pink line to the VOR perfect, ATC told me to turn at that specific time, so it seems as though the thing that is screwed up is my fault. What am I doing wrong and how do I fix it?

When you are instructed to turn by ATC, you just turn—you don’t have to worry about intercepting anything. ATC instructions override your filed route unless safety considerations prohibit it.

The ATC in Flight Simulator is so-so, but not completely realistic. If you want complete realism, join a free online flight simulation network like VATSIM or IVAO; on these networks, you can talk to human controllers via voice (or text) and follow procedures that exactly duplicate real-world ATC. It’s vastly more realistic than the built-in ATC in Flight Simulator. It still uses Flight Simulator, but the built-in ATC is replaced by real people (and the other airplanes that you see are flown by real people, as well).
